DEVIN TOWNSEND To Guest On RYAN VAN POEDEROOYEN's Solo Album

August 19, 2004

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mastermind Devin Townsend will be making a guest appearance on the upcoming solo album from DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen.

"I'm so stoked about this," Ryan writes on his web site.

"Some people might not be surprised about this guest appearance because I play drums in the DTB. The fact is that everyone who wants Devin on their albums for a guest appearance usually wants him for his amazing voice. Well, I'm different. I want him for his equally amazing guitar playing. He is going to play the lead guitar part on the instrumental fusion/metal song I'm writing.

The confirmed line-up for this song will be Dave Young (DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND) on rhythm guitar, Michael Manring (bass god) on bass, Devin Townsend ripping it up on lead guitar and [Ryan Van Poederooyen] on drums.

"This will definitely be a highlight on the album for me. I'm really looking forward to working with Devin outside of DTB and having Dev and Michael feeding off each other musically. It's exciting to think about! I have pretty much confirmed all the guest appearances for this upcoming solo album, to be recorded in 2005. There are still a couple possibilities for another guest or two. If they pan out, I'll be letting you all know right away!"
